Today we packed some more. We’ve decided we brought a whole lot of stuff out here that we didn’t need. Now the question is how much of it we’re going to take home with us where we still won’t need it. This is the great debate whenever Robert and I try to pack. Where is Heather when we need her?

We did get a lot done, because I put up a priority list on the dry erase board and refused to allow us to get sidetracked. We went through Robert’s clothes and all the stuff in the bathroom. While we were doing this we were also cooking dinner for the Bonitos. We cooked meat loaf, funeral potatoes, Schwan’s baguettes, corn, cake and ice cream.

Things began to unravel about 5:00, when Bonitos called and said they couldn’t be there until 6:00 or 6:30. Originally they were coming at 5:30, but David had a school board meeting. We’re not sure why they didn’t tell us about the meeting when we scheduled the dinner, but they didn’t. At 7:00 we heard someone come up on the porch and figured they had arrived. Ha! That would be way too simple for the rez. Actually it was Kyesha and her dad. He was bringing her for her counseling appointment, which they have been doing on Tuesdays. However, they missed last Tuesday because they were sick and Robert thought he told them that he was not doing any more counseling this week. Anyway Kyesha came in and started talking to Robert and about 15 minutes later Maxine, Faith and Ariel showed up. I took them back to the bedroom to look through some of my clothes and see if they wanted any of them. Maxine took several skirts, a couple pair of shoes and a jumper.

About 7:30 David and Keegan finally came. Robert had no alternative but to take Kyesha to the church to finish their session. We’ve been so careful never to have him alone, especially with a young girl, but we just didn’t know what else to do. At 8:00 Byron came and took her home and then returned for his own session. So I ended up having dinner alone with all the Bonitos.

I made a photo album for them and for the kids we filled our candy jar with Easter candy and tied a ribbon around the jar. The kids were really excited when I gave it to them. Keegan said, “Is this the jar you always had over there with candy in it? Wow, that’s so cool that we get to have that jar.” It was really cute. Maxine cried so hard when she looked at the album. She said that they never came to dinner here when any of the other couples were in Cibecue and that they were never really friends with any of the others like they are with us. They’re talking about coming to Logan when they translate for conference in April. Even President took the album and looked at it for a long time all by himself. I was surprised when they left because he gave me a huge hug.

Robert finished his counseling about 9:30. By then we were too tired to even talk to each other. We were both so overly fatigues that we ended up having a rare sleepless night. We both tossed and turned all night long.
