Out and about early again this morning. Zone interviews with President Buttars started at 9:00 in Show Low. He always does a training first and then starts interviews. He did an excellent training on the apostasy and Sister Buttars read a story called Clay Balls for her training.

President Buttars talked about a book by an author named Bernstein, who is not a member. The book states that about 1820 there was a change in the global economy. There is a graph in the book that shows the world had been basically static until then, and the growth in knowledge, technology and income beginning in 1820 is a straight line up on the graph. He also said that 80% of the world’s total population has been born since 1820. All of this was prophesied in the Doctrine and Covenants. It was really an interesting training and the spirit was strong.

Our interview with him was the best we’ve had…one could almost, but not quite, say it was a dialogue. He prays at the end of each interview and again we were overcome with the spirit. He prayed for the people who are working to attend the temple, and that we would be able to support the Elders in their work, and that we would be productive. We worry about that a lot. We worry that we’re not being as productive as we should, so we particularly appreciated his asking for that blessing.

After the interview we went to our Family Services monthly staff meeting. We met at Pizza Hut in Taylor, a little town 4 miles from Snowflake, then went to Snowflake for the meeting. These are always good trainings. We look forward to this meeting each month.

We had promised ourselves all week that after this training we’d go see “The Work and the Glory.” Yesterday when we went by the theatre it was still playing, but when we got there today it was gone. We were quite disappointed. Nevertheless, we were not about to be deprived of a break. We went to the theatre in Pinetop and saw “Music and Lyrics.” It was cute, although Hugh Grant is getting a bit old for the romantic comedy lead.
