Zone Conference and Interviews today, so we had to be in Show Low by 8:45. We found out President Buttars isn’t interviewing any of the couples, because he has to do both Zone Conference and Interviews all in one day. His training was on Adam and Eve and the Fall. His training is always interesting. But then the AP’s take over. They talked for an hour and a half about working with your ward mission leaders…HA! They even had handouts for getting members to sign up to go on splits with the missionaries. As if we have ward mission leaders (and I emphasize the plural there). As if we even have one ward mission leader…or Elders Quorum President…well, anyway, there wasn’t much there that applied to us. We do love the role play (spelled r-o-l-l on the AP power point) as it give all the couples a lovely chance to visit.

Then we had lunch…the sisters in the Stake made submarine sandwiches, jello, potato and macaroni salad, and then, the crowning point, homemade cookie ice cream sandwiches. Truly heavenly!

After lunch they gave out their awards. Elder Rogers and Miller got the award for the cleanest car. We congratulated them sincerely because we’ve seen that car and knew how much work they must have done, but they secretly confessed they took it to a car detailer. We won’t tell President they cheated just to get the box of Milk Duds.

This is our last Conference with President Buttars so he and Sister Buttars bore their testimonies and sort of introduced President Craig. We’ll meet him in July. Now it’s 5:00 and we’re waiting to meet the Buttars and all the couple missionaries for dinner tonight. We’re going to a Chinese restaurant, the Lotus Garden, that Lefkowitz say is really good. Steve told me today he call Rosie Sister Lefkowitch. She doesn’t really appreciate that but says she deserves it.

So that’s all for now. Whatever excitement happens tonight we’ll report on tomorrow.
