(Just looked at the Psychosibs page. Cute! Thinking the family calendar could use an update.)
Church then two more baptisms today. That means Elder Rogers and Elder Miller had five baptisms this week. Rhonda Lupe and her son, Adriano, were baptized at 5:30 tonight. Rhonda is the one who talked to me at graduation about getting baptized. They asked Robert to baptize and confirm both of them, so that was nice for him. We drove them to the baptism, along with Maxine Bonito. President couldn’t be there. In fact, only the Elders, us, Maxine, Rhonda, Adriano and her other son, Julian, came. It was a small group but there was a strong spirit there. Rhonda’s daughter, Megan, was baptized a few months ago. That baptism had to be scheduled three times before it actually happened. This was only the second time for Rhonda and Adriano, so we were all worried that it might not happen. When we have baptisms like this the Elders wait for us to call and say the people are in the truck and we’re on our way before they fill the font. When we picked them up we had to take them over to a relative’s house before we left town to get something to eat. Rhonda said she has no food in the house and they were all hungry. When we got home we put together a bag of food and took them a little bit to eat.
We asked Maxine to give the closing prayer and before she did she wanted to give her testimony. It was so wonderful. She’s related to Rhonda, so she talked about how they were both raised in the Pentecostal church, but now they know a better way and it’s important to stay strong in this church even if they’re criticized for their decision. On the way home Rhonda told us that neither one of her parents will speak to her or answer her phone calls since she told them she’s going to be baptized.
At church we found out that Murphy’s goddaughter died yesterday afternoon. She was found floating in a lake up by Hon Dah. There are a lot of rumors, but no one knows for sure what happened to her. She was maybe 20 and pregnant. Very sad.
Also at church Cheryl gave me a note that asked me please to talk to President and see if he would give her a food order. She also said they have no food in the house. And Naysha is sick so she wanted Robert to come over and give her a blessing. Robert gave the note to President and he said we could do a food order. We went over this after but she wasn’t home. When we got back from the baptism we took the food to Rhonda and some to Cheryl, gave Naysha the blessing and filled out a food order. This made 4 straight 14 hour days and we were exhausted when we finally got home. But it was a good exhaustion because ever since we got home from California we’ve just been on one spiritual high after another. Very special week.
Despite the rumors, I don't live here anymore
