Last night just after we wrote that we’d had an easy day, President Bonito called and asked Robert to speak in church today. Byron Collateta also spoke, and he told of going to the temple and the dream he had about his brother and how happy he was that he was able to do his brother’s work. Robert talked about the temple, too, and our upcoming trip to do baptisms for the dead February 1. Getting this trip going has been like pulling teeth, but it’s finally picking up some steam. The men are doing better than the women…par for the course around here. Bro Wilcock has met with the youth twice and they have set some goals…like coming to church maybe once or twice before the trip. No, they’ve done more than that. But Maxine was supposed to talk to the young women and nothing has been done there yet. A few of the young women have started working because they just happened to be in church and get involved with the meetings. I know Maxine is overwhelmed with her life right now, but I sure wish we could light a fire under her about her church work.
After church Michelle Zospah asked if she could talk to us. She and her daughter came over to the trailer and she told us the doctor found a lump in her breast and they’re doing a biopsy on it on Tuesday. She was discouraged. Until three years ago she was an alcoholic and on drugs. She’s been clean for 3 years and is struggling with why this would happen to her now when she finally got her life under control. There’s a question we couldn’t answer. Anyway, Robert gave her a blessing and we hope that will help her.
It’s still rainy and cold here so we stayed home the rest of the afternoon. We are working on Christmas cards and have them almost ready to mail. Unfortunately we ran out of paper and it will be Tuesday before we get to Show Low to buy more. The golf trip got cancelled because of the weather, so I’ll have to do missionary work tomorrow since the slave driver will be home.
Despite the rumors, I don't live here anymore
