We spent these two days in Phoenix with Ray and Sharon and had an absolutely delightful time. On Wednesday we saw a lovely Christmas show at the Dodge Theatre, had dinner at Claim Jumper, and went to the Mesa Temple to see the Christmas lights.

On Thursday we had breakfast at Denny’s, walked at the Superstition Springs Mall, went to Target and came home. We had a 6:00 appointment with Byron, Shawna and Kyesha. Robert talked first with Kyesha for an hour, then she stayed with me while he went over to the church and talked with Byron and Shawna. That session lasted for 2 hours, so it was 9:30 by the time they all finally left. After Kyesha talked with Robert she said she had something she wanted to tell me. That something was that her mother is pregnant. I said, “And I’m guessing it’s not your dad’s baby” and she said I was right. This poor girl has a lot to deal with. But Robert felt good about his session with her. Her parents are another matter. He is undecided whether to try to help them reconcile or offer them each support for the pending divorce. They told him of a situation where he became physically abusive and in defending herself she stabbed him in the arm with a knife. Also she said the family of her current boyfriend, who is married, beat her up. The therapist she is seeing at the tribal office is demanding that she get a restraining order against her husband before he will see her again. If she does that she will have no help dealing with Kyesha and her other two children, both of whom have serious problems and are extremely high maintenance. Perhaps that would be a good consequence for the mess she’s managed to create.
