Happy Halloween! It’s 7:20 PM and we haven’t had a single trick or treater. Very disappointing!
No Blog yesterday because we were too busy visiting with our company! Yes, Sharon and Ray get the prize for being our first visitors. They were on their way to Tucson and Ray decided that the most direct route they could take goes right by Cibecue. I’m just kidding, I lied and begged and talked them into going substantially out of their way to come and see us. Many thanks to them for the effort. We loved having them and they survived the visit to the rez. We met them in Show Low yesterday and had a lovely dinner before driving out to Cibecue. Then we spent this morning touring the town…OK it took 5 minutes, but we had a great time.
After they left we went for a walk and met a lady we’d made several attempts to visit at her home but she was never there. She told us what time she gets home from work and said it would be all right to visit her some night.
We were a little discouraged after Sharon and Ray left…enjoyed their visit too much and then missed all the fam. We got out of our doldrums by having a great companionship study. We actually memorized the first step of the 12 steps and read all the scriptural references. It brought the spirit back into our home, and we’re much energized tonight.
Had another little correspondence with Elder Peart. He sent the bill for our next month’s rent and included phone, electricity and propane on it. He had already mailed this when he received our previous note, so called last night and left a message on the machine telling us to ignore the phone part and just pay rent, electricity and propane. We’d be good with that except the electricity bill was for the month of September when we were not even in residence. So we politely declined to pay that. In addition the other senior couples pay $10.00 per month for propane. Since we already paid $180 to fill the tank, our math suggests that we’ve already paid our share for the entire mission. We also explained that particular philosophy. We now wait to find out whether or not he agrees with our perceptions. We haven’t been able to analyze why we get so much perverse pleasure out of annoying the poor man.
Yesterday before Ray and Sharon arrived Robert went golfing again. The course is now closed for the season so he and his friend wanted one last golfing trip. They played 18 holes, par 63, and Robert shot a 74. He was pretty pleased with himself. I spent my time grocery shopping and grandkid shopping. It was very fun. We also bought a new blow-up mattress because we forgot to bring back one from Logan. We now own approximately 475 air mattresses distributed across the country. Visitors may now choose to sleep on the fancy sofa or the new blow-up mattress or a bunk bed. We’re like a regular 5-star hotel here. Since we’re the only hotel in Cibecue we don’t get many complaints.
Despite the rumors, I don't live here anymore
