March 22, 2007

Rainy, rainy day. You would think people would stay home, but we had trouble visiting because no one was around. We tried to see Thelma and Alfred but the police had pulled over someone and were blocking their driveway so we couldn’t go up there. Gilbert said the car pulled over belonged to drug dealers who had an altercation with some of his cousins in town the night before. He said the guy is a “real bad dude” and that in the fight yesterday there were shots fired between the groups. We had no idea. How do we miss all of this?

We dropped off some flyers about enrichment night then went back and cooked dinner and got the building ready. We had about 15 women come tonight. Big improvement on our 4 last time. I think it was a pretty good night. Sister Wilcock showed them how to make a good fruit cobbler with cake mix and then we had some fleece to make blankets. Also Shauna showed them her scrapbooks and told them she’d be teaching some scrapbooking classes and I talked to them about writing their personal histories. They seemed pretty interested. Some of them stayed until almost 9:00. Gilbert came with Alma and hung out with Robert and the Elders. He’s figured out that if he comes on Relief Society night he gets to have dinner with them. Faith and Naysha came with their mothers, and stayed after the mothers went home. Gilbert and Alma and Faith and Naysha and Elder Rogers and Day played basketball until 9:30. Alma said the girls won.
