Elders here today, so that means we cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had pancakes, ham and eggs for breakfast, a Mexican Hamburger Helper type lunch, and Au Jus sandwiches for dinner. I also made a cake.

The Gilbert/Alma saga continues. Last week the Elders were all excited because they were getting married July 11 and baptized July 14. This week Alma has a new squeeze, the baby has gone to live with Alma’s mother in San Carlos, Gilbert is smoking and drinking again, Alma has taken up drinking, and the Elders are in deep depression. Wonder why. She said she sent the baby to San Carlos because they’re planning a big Fourth of July party and she can’t have the baby around when she’s partying. She told us the baby would be back July 15. That’s a long time for a mother to be away from her little baby.

We visited Davis and Lyviah. Davis disappeared and didn’t talk to us, but Lyviah showed us her new baby, Haile (pronounced high-lee). Beautiful little baby. She was about 3 weeks premature and weighted 5 lbs. She’s 2 weeks old now. We took her the last of the 0-3 month clothes that Veda gave us.

Cheryl and Ricky also re-appeared today after a fairly long absence (imposed by us). She called for a ride to the Child Find office, which is about 5 blocks from their house. Normally I would say they could walk, but it truly is blistering hot. I wouldn’t want to walk it either, so Robert gave them a ride. Of course they wanted more. Ricky wanted a ride to Hawley Lake tomorrow so he could camp for 2 days. Robert said that Maxine’s family is going there to camp also and maybe he could get a ride with one of them. Then Cheryl said she needs a ride to Show Low next week to do birthday shopping. Robert said Cade and Andi will be here. Sorry. He’s getting good at this.
