February 19-22, 2008
ALERT! We will be discontinuing our telephone service here on February 29. That means no TV, no Internet, no phone for a week. Yikes!!! After the 29th the only way you can contact us is by calling Robert's cell phone: 928-594-4487. We cannot call out at all while we're on the rez. On Thursday, March 6, we will be in Phoenix picking up Cade and Andi, so on that day you can call our Verizon phone.
Tuesday we went to Tucson. We stopped at the Catalina Pointe Arthritis Clinic and got Robert’s blood tests done for next week when we go to the doctor.
On our way to Tucson, we stopped at the Chevron in Globe. As we went through the door an Apache man came in also and said, “I’ve followed you all the way from Cibecue.” It was Mike Ivins, Cecil’s son, one of the policemen here. He was with Cecil and Myrtle and they were taking Cecil to the hospital in Tucson. Myrna and Mike’s wife, Nada, were with them also. Tuesday night Ray took us to the hospital to check on Cecil, but he hadn’t stayed overnight. Later we found out that he has to go back next week for open heart surgery.
Wednesday we went with Sharon to the Mesa Temple. We had a great day together.
Thursday we came back home and I made a cake for Homemaking Meeting. Pat Madsen was scheduled to present, but she called and said they had so many people at the hospital in Whiteriver that they had called her in to work, so we cancelled Ladies’ Night and the Elders got to eat the chocolate cake. Josephine came over and asked to borrow the tables for her son’s wedding on Saturday.
Friday we fixed 3 meals for the Elders, packed pictures, more books, and stuff from our closet. While we were eating dinner Abbitt came and said he needed the tables and chairs for a memorial dinner tomorrow. We thought that was the day Josephine needed them, but we called Irene and she said their wedding is next Saturday, so we dodged a potential disaster there. It’s rained all day here. Good day to stay home. The missionaries are staying again tonight. We gave them their names that Sharon, oh, I mean, I made, of course. They really liked them. That’s been a fun gift to give and I certainly couldn’t have done it without Sharon’s help.
Also while we were eating dinner Gilbert called and wanted a ride. Robert and the Elders went and picked him up. They took him from his mother’s house to his apartment to get a bottle for Famisha and then back to his mother’s house. Robert said he wasn’t very communicative, just grunted when they asked him a question. When they took him back to his mother’s house he just jumped out of the truck without a word and went in the house. Elder Lefler spoke up as Gilbert disappeared into the house and said, “Thanks a lot for the ride.” The Apaches do lack somewhat in the social skills department.
Despite the rumors, I don't live here anymore

Kind of weird to have you talking about when we will be there! Can't wait.
This is so not cool.
