This morning Robert did a training session for the staff at the Cibecue Health Center. This was the 2nd time he’s presented for them. He did a great job. The topic was again Burnout in the work place, and he presented a lot of ideas for dealing with stress. They obviously enjoyed the presentation. After it was over Bettina gave us a nice book and two lovely certificates for the day we presented at her family/parenting conference.

Then we left for our staff meeting in Snowflake. The director of Family Services gave a presentation on Pornography. He had good information for us. Ken Brown also did some training. We like these meetings, except for the group participation time at the end. Isn’t there always one person who dominates that time? And it can get really negative. So we resort to passing notes back and forth. Very mature on our part. Today our favorite attention seeker made the statement that the people on the reservation are like 3-year-olds because they don’t even understand what she’s talking about when she tells them they need to find a positive support group to help them stay away from whatever substance they are abusing. We were a bit offended. Perhaps she didn’t mean it like it sounded, but the people here are not like 3-year-olds just because they don’t understand what we’re trying to say. If you put us up in their mountains we would look like 3-year-olds because we certainly don’t understand that environment like they do. Many people are very bright, mature individuals. They may have incorrect traditions, but they also have many good things about them. I hate to hear people over-generalize about any group.

Had dinner at home with the Elders and played Scrabble. The mission must be good for me, as I won again. This may be our last night with Elder Day because he’s likely to get transferred this week.
