Happy May Day! We spent the morning in the temple with Alfred and Thelma. They almost didn’t go. We said we’d pick them up at 8:15 and at 8:05 they called and said they just got out of bed. We asked if they could be ready by 8:30 and they said probably so we went over then. Thelma was just getting out of the shower, but Alfred said they had been sick yesterday and had almost decided not to go, but prayed about it and felt they should try to go with us. We had a great day at the temple. They said they want to go with us as much as they can so they can go on their own after we leave. They also said they felt no one had really helped them be able to go to the temple until we came. That was nice. The mission certainly does have its payoffs.
We didn’t leave here until 8:45 and we were supposed to be at the temple at 9:30, which is 60 miles away. We’re pretty sure there’s something wrong with breaking the law to get to the temple, but I was awfully glad I didn’t pass a policeman, because we had to drive very fast up the canyon. After the session we had lunch at Eva’s, then went by Walgreen’s to get a prescription filled for Jared, their son, and by a car dealer’s to get a bid on the car Beckie is looking at.
When we got back to Cibecue Robert went to get the mail and Nada said Myrna went to the hospital today. But we haven’t heard from her so don’t know what happened. We went to her sister’s house and her son’s house but no one was home.
We also went to Betty’s and I pinned her temple dress so she can get it hemmed. She’s very excited in her own quiet little way. Then we took a bag of flour over to Cheryl that Sis. Wilcock left here on Sunday. Cheryl is making fry bread for lunch next Sunday.
President Bonito just came over and said they flew Myrna to Phoenix. Robert called President Buttars and asked him to check on her and see if the baby has been born and if so give him a blessing. Myrna was very concerned about getting the baby blessed before he passes away.
Last night we watched the PBS special on the Mormons, and were interested in watching the second part tonight. However, about halfway through it Kit Cody showed up at our door. We’ve seen him drunk before, but tonight should get some sort of prize. Robert was so good with him. He talked to him for a few minutes (meaning he listened to Kit’s crazy ramblings) then said it’s time for you to go home and get some rest. We gave him a ride to a friend’s house because he didn’t want to go home…said there was no one there and he didn’t want to be alone. It’s so sad. He really is a nice person when he’s sober. His brother, who has been a branch president, had a son who committed suicide a couple of months ago. Kit asked us over and over if we know his brother and then do we know what happened to his son. He just doesn’t have the ability to cope with this tragedy. The young man’s mother cleans our church. We talked to her after her son died and she’s very sad but coping. What a difference the gospel, and sobriety, can make in our lives.
Despite the rumors, I don't live here anymore

I am praying for Myrna. Her story truly touches me. I hope to her, the best this situation can offer.
