Two teenagers were stabbed this week. One was Nada’s 14-year-old son. Poor Nada. Last year her son committed suicide, a month or so ago her baby died, and now this. The other boy we don’t know. We were also told that there’s a group of boys who are beating up older people around town. Why would they do that? These poor old people have nothing that young boys could want. We now have bars on all our windows except for the back bedroom, and the welder is still working on an escape route for that one. Bill and Shawn worked most of the day again today.

Just as they were getting ready to leave they discovered a leak in the women’s bathroom toilet in the church. Bill had to drive all the way back to Show Low, buy a new toilet, and come back to install it. He left about 7:00 and said it’s still not all fixed but should be OK for church this weekend.

Robert had a counseling appointment scheduled at 10:00 this morning, but they didn’t show. He checked in with Alfred, but they never received the notice for court again today.

At 11:00 we went over to Byron and Juliet’s and taught them the first temple class. It felt amazingly good to get back into teaching people and preparing them to go to the temple. They are both very enthusiastic and have strong testimonies. They want to go to the temple in November. That will be one year after she was baptized. There was a strong spirit in their home. She’s a little more nervous than he is, but we hope they can both come along.

This afternoon Robert went with the Elders all afternoon while I stayed home and cooked. I found a great new chicken recipe, and will include it at the end. Robert and the Elders made a lot of visits. They found themselves in Lower Cibecue and decided to stop at Michelle Zospah’s mother’s house. We had talked about going there ever since she came to Arnell’s baptism. She’s a member but doesn’t come any more. So they stopped and discovered that she is the woman who wanted to come for counseling this morning. How interesting that they should just happen to stop at that house today. Another time when we realize that we are not really in charge of the work here. The Lord makes things happen when He is ready for them to happen, not us.

Maxine called tonight in tears. She and David had a fight and he yelled at the kids. They’re both so uptight about conference. We hope they can make it through another week.
