April 5, 2007

We felt like we had a hangover today. All this alcohol abuse indoctrination must be getting to us. After driving all day Monday, shopping all day Tuesday, and doing the dinner all day Wednesday we were a little slow getting started this morning. Finally got into gear but had a lazy, slow day…only logged 11.5 hours of missionary work today. If we keep slacking off like this we’ll get sent home for sure.

More maintenance people out here today. President Bonito has requested having the wiring updated in the building. In his office there is only 1 electrical outlet, and he has a copier, fax machine, and computer all plugged into it. So one of the FM employees, Shaun, brought an electrician out. Shaun also worked on our toilet, which won’t quit running, and the outdoor side lights on the church, which are motion sensors but didn’t come on last night. The Apache people tend to be a bit dull, but they move around enough to trigger sensors on the lights. He fixed both issues, the lights are working fine, but the toilet started running again as soon as he left. They tell us it’s the minerals in the water here. They’ve put in a whole house filter, but we’re still having problems. They said it would clear up once the lines are cleaned out completely, which the filter should do eventually.

We had a Temple class scheduled with Betty Lee, but she wasn’t home. We took Murphy to an appointment at the tribal office, gave a piano lesson to Alma (Megan had hers yesterday, but neither Faith nor Naysha came), and fixed 3 meals for the Elders. They had a great day today. They went to the community center, where there was a free clothing giveaway, and got 5 appointments for tomorrow from their OYM’s there.

Besides those little tasks, we spent the rest of the day preparing for a presentation Robert is giving tomorrow at the health center. Bettina asked him to talk about overcoming burnout…and on April 18 we’re doing a presentation on Positive Parenting. Like we know anything about either topic!!!
