This was a lovely day. Elder and Sister Lamb, the new couple serving in Whiteriver, came over to Cibecue for lunch. I fixed stew and cornbread and made Sharon’s cherry chocolate cake recipe. I also made banana bread, and sent a loaf home with them. They brought chocolate chip cookies and homemade wheat bread.

The Lambs’ have been here for a month and this was the first time we could get together with them. They’re from Gooding, Idaho and are a really nice couple. I think we’ll enjoy getting to know them and working with them, although they’re proselyting missionaries so their work is a bit different than ours.

Yesterday when we went to Wal-Mart we ran into Rosie Lefkowitz. They have extended their mission through next year, so they will have served 3 years. Saints!!! But it was good news for us. Rosie has a lot of contacts and knows everyone. She’s such a help to us. We were delighted to know that she’ll be serving with us throughout our whole mission.

Last night President Bonito called and invited us to his family’s Easter party today, then he said, “And by the way, could you speak in Sacrament meeting Sunday?” I had been celebrating all week because we’re going to show “The Testaments” during Sunday School, which means no Primary preparation for me! So instead of preparing for Primary we wrote talks tonight. But I loved writing this talk. We turned on BYU Radio and just sat at the table reading scriptures and thinking about what Easter message we could share. There was such a strong spirit here in our humble little abode. The mission is filled with surprise blessings.

We went to the Easter party for a while after Elder and Sister Lamb left. How appropriate to spend the day before Easter with the Lambs. (Ha, ha, mission humor…we’ve obviously spent way too much time with the Elders). Anyway, at the party they hid Easter eggs and some of the eggs had numbers written on them. There was a cloth on the grass with 72 prizes on it…soda, games, toys, t-shirts, glasses…all kinds of stuff. When all the eggs had been found, the kids came over and got to choose prizes according to the number on their eggs. Number 1 chose first, etc. etc. It was so fun for them. If we ever spend an Easter with our family we want to do this.

Another beautiful day. We asked President if this was typical weather for Easter and he said no, usually it’s much hotter. We thought this was pretty warm weather for this time of year.
