January 23, 2007

Well, the roads were fine but the wimpy folks in Mesa cancelled our Temple trip. They said the weather was too bad. The weather was fine today. The roads are clear. We waited until about 9:00 to make the fruit salad and just as I finished it Elder Itri called and asked what we were doing. I said getting ready for the temple trip because we’re really excited about it. He said, ooops, guess no one called you guys. Phoenix got one inch of snow! One inch and they cancel everything. Unbelievable.

So we got an unexpected day at home. We’ve established a neat pattern the last few days. We stay home and have a nice, quiet day and just wait for the emergencies to materialize. It’s working well for us.

Today Robert worked on taxes again and I wrote letters and answered e-mails and some miscellaneous other stuff around the house. Irene Murphy came for a short visit. She said her sister, who is Maxine Bonito’s grandmother, has been in the hospital. At 4:00 Maxine called. She went to the hospital with her grandmother Saturday night. She rode with her in the ambulance and then got snowed in and couldn’t get home. So she’s been in Whiteriver since then. She was coming home today but not until later this evening and wanted to know if we would take some dinner over to her family. No problem. We cooked some sausage/rice casserole, then came back to our ARP meeting. We’re really enjoying these meetings. We go sit in the church and read or talk. At interviews a couple of weeks ago President Buttars challenged the mission to read 10 pages a day in the Book of Mormon. If we do that we can read the whole book by next transfers. So tonight while we waited for no one to come again we read our 10 pages. We’re in Second Nephi so we didn’t understand anything we read, but we enjoyed reading it anyway.

No more snow today but it’s really windy. Hard to keep this trailer warm when the wind blows.

Please don't freeze to death. Just another thing to worry about...

As for snow, I was really hoping it would snow this year so that I could see a whole city grind to a halt over a skiff. Alas -
