A bonus scrapbooking day! Robert is in deep depression because his favorite golf course is closing next week for the winter. The only effective therapy he could think of was another day golfing this week. Just for the record the golf course he likes is called Pinetop Lakes Country Club. Part of his deep affection for the place is due to the fact that they usually let him golf free. And I got tons done on my scrapbooks. I’m as far as I can go until the new scrapbooks I ordered arrive.
Robert had a slight trauma today, in spite of nice weather and good golfing. He stopped at Safeway to get gas and his credit card was not in his wallet. Highly unusual, as Robert is very conscientious about replacing that card whenever he uses it. Unfortunately this was one of the few days he actually had to pay to golf, and he left his card there. He went back and got it without problem, but it meant an extra 30 miles driving and so he was a lot later getting home than he had planned.
Therefore he barely had time to eat dinner before leaving to pick up scouts. Twelve boys came. Rocky and Raymon both came. They’re next on our list to be baptized so we feel it’s important to stay in contact with them. Robert says that in spite of his chronic complaining about scouts he has to admit this has been a success. More and more people in the community are talking about the scouts and asking if their sons can come. Their success at the tree-planting activity brought real joy to them and to their families.
Jared called and asked for a ride to the house of the friend who died in the fire. The family was having a meeting about the funeral and since Jared was the boy’s closest friend they wanted him there. Jared said the boy was sleeping in a shed next to the house and started a fire in a wood burner to keep warm. Apparently the wood burner wasn’t adequate and the flames were able to escape and cause the shed to burn down. President Bonito said the father is experiencing terrible guilt because he felt he had an opportunity to save the boy. He went outside and saw that the roof had caved in but the back of the shed wasn’t burning. The man told his pastor that he just froze and couldn’t seem to do anything. He may have hesitated only a moment, but in that moment the rest of the shed burst into flame and it was too late.
Despite the rumors, I don't live here anymore

How awful to be standing there as that happened. I can't even imagine surviving something like that, the poor father.
