Good church today. One of our highest attendance days. Sister Gedde and Sister Crook came from Show Low Family History Center to speak to us. They stayed after for a meeting with the recommend holders to show them how to get names temple ready. There was quite a bit of enthusiasm about this. Murphy wants to do the work for one of his brothers. Byron, who isn’t even endowed yet, can hard wait to do his brother’s work. Betty wasn’t there, but she’s told us before that she wants to do her husband’s work and be sealed to him in February, when he will have been deceased for 1 year.
We had 15 children in Primary. Malachi, Rhonda’s son, came in and immediately said he’s getting baptized Dec 1. That was exciting because we’ve been trying to schedule this forever, and hopefully this great awareness might actually lead to it happening. Holyon is supposed to be baptized the same day.
Rocky and Raymon are scheduled to be baptized this coming Thursday. They also came to church, but are too old for Primary.
Last week President Bonito went to a court hearing for his brother. The brother’s wife has been sent to jail and the brother is nowhere to be found. This left 7 children abandoned and it isn’t the first offense where Protective Services has been involved. So the judge told the immediate family either they had to take the children or they would be sent to families off the reservation. This is very unusual, as the tribe rarely sends the children away. While we think it’s good to keep kids with the family, we’re a little bit sorry they didn’t get the chance to escape. Anyway, President and Maxine took 2 of the little girls, 7 and 8 years old, President’s mother took the 4 boys, and President’s sister took an older girl. The 2 girls with President came to Primary today. They were well behaved but very hesitant to participate. Another part of the court ruling is that the parents cannot visit or communicate with the children in any way for at least 3 years.
After church Sharon left. We had a great visit with her. We spent the afternoon finishing up the sign-up sheet for the branch dinner and then we did some undisclosed baking because it’s a secret we can’t tell you yet.
Despite the rumors, I don't live here anymore
